Introduction

This journal describes the backpacking trip my brother Scott and I took with our wives in July and August of 2007. A map of our trip can be seen by clicking on the link above or you can download a NG Topo copy of the map if you have National Geographic's Topo software. Our trip was up the Lyell Fork of the Tuolumne River canyon which we thought would be a nice and easy hike for the wives and us. We had planned on this to be a two night stay with the middle day a layover to relax in the woods and do some fishing.

Since this trip was a quick two day trip, we felt we had plenty of room to bring luxury items. Well we had the room but paid for the weight. Two flasks of tequilla, two small containers of brandy, and a flask of vodka sure hit the spot out on the trail. It was a lot lighter coming home though! Scott even brought some hard cheese and crackers! They tasted very nice out on the trail.
